In July 2017, I took part in the two-week intensive course Trainer Development at the Norwich Institute for Language Education within the framework of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Programme. The course aimed at the improvement of the participants’ ability to plan and give ELT lessons efficiently, while maintaining an international perspective. In this context, the following competences were developed: methodological-didactic competences, lesson planning, feedback giving, teacher observation, etc. It was an extraordinarily enriching experience to hone these competences in a multicultural team.
Furthermore, we enjoyed the possibility to attend the inspiring guest lectures of multiple leading scholars in the field of ELT, such as Adrian Underhill or Jamie Keddie.
The Social Programme, which included varied evening activities, was another pleasant aspect of the course. It gave the participants the opportunity to exchange ideas in an informal setting and to establish a professional network.
