Delegation from Estonia at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna

On November 7- 8, 2018, at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna, the team from the Department of Continuing Professional Development and Educational Cooperation (IWQ), together with the Department of Interdisciplinary Education (IBS) and the Department of Educational Sciences and Practical Studies (IBG) welcomed a delegation from the University of Tartu.

The guests were received by Barbara Gullner, head of the IWQ, who gave an introduction to the University College of Teacher Education Vienna. Afterwards, during a visit to the Primary school for pre-service teaching, the visitors received information about different teaching methods at the primary level.

Manuela Burtscher-Ebner (IBG) answered questions from the Estonian colleagues concerning a collaboration between mentor teachers and students, as well as questions about the organization of the school. In the afternoon, Rainer Hawlik (IBS) from the Ko.M.M.M. led the delegation on an excursion to BAOBAB. The visitors, students from the PH Vienna and secondary level teachers were guided through an interesting tour about multi-language didactics in the primary and secondary levels.

On the following day, the guests attended a workshop with pupils from the House of Mathematics (HdMa) at the PH Wien. Our colleague, Monika Musilek (IBS) spent a lot of time with the Estonian guests to explain the work with teachers, students and pupils from the House of Mathematics.

At the conclusion of the visit, Gordan Varelija (IBS) and the delegation exchanged experiences during the learning workshop NaWiMa.

The visitors from Estonia were very thankful for the stimulating talks with our colleagues and the interesting program that was set forth for them. The University of Tartu has extended an invitation for a visit to their institution in return.
